The Cable Market
Cable companies are currently heavily involved in expanding their services. In addition to the usual delivery of radio, television and internet access, additional internet services are being added, such as internet telephony (VoIP), Digital RTV, various forms of internet use (broadband) and various payment models. The services provided by the cable operator are increasingly shifting towards that of a telecom operator..
Commercial battle
A commercial battle is also raging in the area of infrastructure between current telecom operators such as KPN and the cable companies. This involves the capacity of coax cable versus copper and the issue of to what extent the connecting network should be converted to fiber optic (FTTH), and if so who is responsible for its implementation and who should pay.
