Motivation
Experience in the TV world and IT world have taught me that I find it interesting to participate in a rapidly-changing and dynamic environment. This, together with my ‘gadget freak’ tendency makes the telecommunication market, in the widest sense of the word, my ideal work environment. New technologies and high business requirements demand innovative and also robust solutions.
I see arriving at this type of solutions in team context and overcoming difficult challenges as one of the motivations to be active in this branch of ‘sport’.
 
Education
My basic education was a wide one in all respects. During my higher professional education (HBO) in Business Administration Informatics, besides theoretical knowledge, I also gained practical experience by various means. Through my graduation placement at a company specializing in Lawful Interception and Data Retention I had my first contact with the telecommunication world.
I furthered my student career at Utrecht University. The English-language Master’s in Business Informatics raised my powers of analytical thought, creativity and eagerness to learn to new levels. The final part of this Master’s was my research into the influence of internet TV on the traditional value chain and business models in this chain. In this I discovered that the worlds of TV and telecom have many areas of contact and are becoming ever more interwoven. I think we are now seeing this more and more.
 
Background & experience
My background is particularly a business administration background supplemented with a large helping of IT. The various placements and graduation topics provided me with a very diverse glimpse into the IT kitchen, from the implementation of a book-keeping system to a literature study concerning legislation and regulations in the field of Lawful Interception and Data Retention, the results of which were presented in a dynamic knowledge system.
 
Specific expertise
Coming straight from a theoretical study, my knowledge mainly concerns theoretical knowledge of, for example, Enterprise Information Architecture, Business IT alignment and Knowledge Management. This purely theoretical knowledge has proved to be a good basis in the recent past. At the same time it gives me insight as regards practical situations: what can be improved here, and how does theory develop in practice.
