Motivation
Innovation is my prime motivator. I feel like a fish in the water if I am involved in the introduction of a new telecommunication service or product. My challenge is to create optimal solutions within the timeframes and budgets imposed. For this, I maintain an overview of the whole chain and of the necessary details in order to achieve a working solution. I am happy to work in a team context in which I carry responsibility for my own results. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty if it serves the goal.
 
Education
After my university preparatory education (VWO) I studied Experimental Physics in Utrecht. Thereafter I studied semiconductor physics in more depth for some years at the University of Nijmegen.
 
Background & experience
The research in Nijmegen was directed towards the development of high efficiency solar cells. Given that this was a long-term development, I decided to make the transition to commerce in order to work on concrete objectives. I therefore moved to KPN. Firstly at KPN Research, I learned in more depth about different telecommunication subjects like ISDN, video communication, IP infrastructures and Voice over IP. I then widened my experience within KPN International and KPN Consumer. In this I was involved with the introduction of Voice over DSL and InternetPlusBellen (bellen = phoning), among other things. At KPN, I was employed in various capacities: researcher, project manager, program manager, department manager, architect and technical product manager. The common thread in all these positions was that I was involved with projects which had the goal of introducing new telecommunication services.
From September 2007 I have been employed by VDVL where I concentrate on the design and implementation of IT systems and business processes for (new) telecommunication services. My focus is directed at order intake, provisioning and service processes.

Hobbies
My wife and children take first place. Together we like to travel to distant places to admire nature and wildlife and experience other cultures. Besides this, I spend my free time doing sports (cycling, tennis, skating, football linesman) and enjoying the comforts of good food and wine
