Motivation

Introducing complex changes and new services and developing and improving business processes fascinate and motivate me enormously, while the main aim remains that our client finally thus realizes his (strategic) business objectives.
I consider I have a powerful ability to distinguish between things that are fundamentally different and those that may be dismissed as hype.
I enjoy working for innovative, dynamic, internationally operating businesses and gain much satisfaction from teamwork and collaboration with partners and clients. This is why I am so happy working for Telecom operators and Service Providers, because the characteristics mentioned are essential to function successfully in this industry.
I’d like to keep the big picture in mind and particularly enjoy work which extends beyond the company or department – in this I always work “from outside inwards”.
Regarding the future, I would like to build further on the professionalisation and growth of VDVL, having responsibility for:
 
· acquisition of strategic orders and clients;
· development of new consultancy products, knowledge areas and entering into partnerships;
· providing direct leadership or coaching to consultant colleagues in fulfilling the various commissions.
 

Education

I studied Information Technology at Leiden University. After this theoretical education, I followed specific automation training courses at several suppliers, both detailed Telecom and ICT and in the field of project and change management.
 

Background & experience

During my final study year in 1987 I took the plunge and founded Van Donk Software Consultancy. My first assignment was to find the correct solution (i.e. standard package) for a medium-sized production company in the graphics industry.
Working from the success of this contract I gained more experience in the standard software market, and this topic therefore forms a central theme in my C.V. I have been able to realize various business objectives using implementations of Off-the-Shelf CRM, ERP, BPM, BSS and OSS solutions.
I am well aware that the selection and implementation of a standard package is not an objective in itself, but only a means to contribute to the objectives as formulated by the organization. I consider it therefore important that the vision that lies at the basis of these objectives is the determining factor in all activities during the whole project.
I consider project management skills to be a basic competence in my profession and ensure that advice is never of an academic nature, but translated pragmatically into specific actions and results. For this I am happy to challenge the professionals I work with and I also grant them the necessary space for the creative input needed.
I see myself as someone who puts result- and task-oriented behavior at the forefront, taking into account the people who have to carry it out and the business culture I encounter.

My experience is primarily with Telecom Service Providers and Operators. Besides this I have experience with various project-supplying companies.
