A number of issues are currently predominant in the market for Fixed Networks. For example, there is debate about the wisdom or folly of investing in FTTH. Broadband is a hot issue by any measure. IP convergence is part of that issue. Now that Voice over IP has grown considerably, VoIP applications are being implemented slowly but surely in the business segment as well. Over-the-top internet players are the new competitors
New players, such as Skype, Google, Joost, etc. compete with operators for their basic services, such as Voice and Video. We are convinced that this represents the biggest strategic threat to operators, and they must prevent themselves from solely becoming the providers of ‘bit pipes’ for public internet access.
